Ethx Internet Servies

INTERNET: We provide high-speed internet service by putting a small antenna on your home that communicates with the nearest tower antenna in your community. This connection is called a “Dedicated Internet Access” and is a secure and protected access between you and the internet. Installation is performed by a team of professionals who works with you for the best placement of external and internal equipment.

ROUTERS: We can provide a wireless router that fits your needs. We carry two types of routers. The first type is a single band (2.4GHz) router is used for general purposes such as email, banking, browsing, etc. The second type is a dual-band router (2.4GHz and 5GHz) that does all of the above but is better for video-streaming. If you have a compatible router of your own, our system supports it.

VIDEO-STREAMING: The Ethx system supports all video-streaming services. Elsewhere on this website is a list of streaming services. We suggest that you review these and select one that has the channels that you like to watch.

HOA Internet Overview Discussion

This discussion addresses today’s needs for internet access to email, business transactions, phone, and video-streaming services.

A few years ago, the internet was primarily used for email and short transactions such as credit card and banking access, and surfing the internet for goods and services, but in the last few years there has been an exponential growth in video-streaming feeds that are quickly replacing cable and DSL providers. Netflix, Roku, Apple TV are just a few of the players.

Ooma and many other VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) providers are recent additions to the market. The former players with copper phone lines (POTS: Plain Old Telephone Systems) are also losing the war to cell phones as well as to VoIP services.

WI-FI Discussion:

All of today’s mobile devices, including laptops, iPhones, Kindles, etc. are equipped with radio connectivity that operate in the 2.4 and 5 GigaHertz (GHz) bands.

When you “search for wireless networks” on any of these devices, such as at an airport or an RV park, you will see dozens of choices. They may be free or ask you for your credit card number to buy a certain amount of time. The problem with the 2.4 GHz band is that there are only three channels available and all of the mobile devices have to share these three bands. Your laptop, IPhone, etc. must compete with all of the others for bandwidth. In a nutshell, unless it is a very large system, such as at an airport, you may not be able to video-stream. Everyone is familiar with buffering…not enough bandwidth to keep up to the feed.

What is Buffering?

Imagine that you and a friend are alone in your home and having a discussion in a normal tone of voice. Now imagine that two other people come into your home and they’re talking to each other. Wait…three more people join the room. Perhaps you’re having a party. The volume goes up. Now you have to speak louder and it’s more difficult to hear the person you started talking with. You get to a point when you have to ask your friend to “say that again.”

Wi-fi systems are like that. You have to keep repeating yourself. This is called “buffering”. You’re not hearing everything your friend said the first time and you have to ask your friend to say it again and again.

Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) Discussion and How We Do It.

The first advantage to our system is that we use the 5GHz band because there are over thirty channels to work with, not just three as in the 2.4GHz spectrum, but the real functionality is that we build a Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) path to your home. It is not a Wi-Fi system. You cannot directly access it with your laptop, IPhone, etc.

We bring a high-speed internet into your HOA at a central location, and put an antenna on your home. This antenna brings the high-speed dedicated internet service directly to you.

Inside your home you connect this feed directly to your computer, laptop, or to a wireless router to support multiple devices including Smart TVs, laptops, Kindles, IPads, etc.

Wireless routers are also necessary for those visitors who need access to the internet.

Summary

We at ETHX have built a different type of system that supports all of the available internet services and has the capability to expand to future needs and bandwidth requirements. We supply full-featured dedicated internet access with excellent firewall security, expandable bandwidth for tomorrow’s unpredictable growth, and reliable connectivity for the ever-expanding video-streaming and voice services.
